Ever own your dreamcar?

I do. I owe it all to losing my job too. With Vactor not needing my services anylonger, it became all to apparent that I needed a dependable car that I could run the countryside with in search of work, or to attend college, whatever I desire. I took the severance pay that the shithole dished out and put a nice chunk aside to search for a vehicle.

I'm not the most practicle person in the world. I could have ran out and bought an 06 Cobalt for $6k and had a warrantee and a low mile, hopefully worry free car that could get 30mpg in these tough economic times. Instead, I bought my brothers 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS! He had the car a few years now, I want to say at least four, and the car only has 70k in the odometer! The interior was a little dingy, and there is paint falling off the front bumper, both items easy fixes for me. Matter of fact, the interior is already near perfect save for the two front buckets as me and Cyn ran out of cleaner and need to get more.

I'll get the front bumper painted in the next week or two and that will pretty much be it! The air blows so cold your fuckin teeth will chatter while riding in it! Of course, with the LT1 it has plenty of power! Being the car has so few miles on it compared to my 95 Caprice and my 96 Roadmaster Wagon, it feels so much quicker even though all three cars have the same powerplant.

Needless to say I am pretty happy! Below are a few pics Cynister Imaging did for me of the SS.

So as you can see it's a Dark Green Gray Metallic SS, the FASST Color SS! There are a few things I want to change about it like the clear taillights, as I like the stock reds better. For the most part though, the car is perfect and it is what I have always wanted! Even when I was a 19 year old punk driving a brand new Camaro, I tried to trade it on a new 95 DCM SS!

The Impala SS goes down in the history books as being the only car that when it hit the streets I was in love at first site and have since desired one! Even the new generation Camaros took some time for me to appreciate the appearance. The 94-96 Impala SS however, was an instant hit with me, and forever will be.

  1. Yes I agree with you on the tail lights. As far as the bumper goes I will check with my old man to see I can get some of that plastic from work. We'll set up a "poorman's" paint booth in my garage so we can restore a Non-"poorman's" SS to its original beauty!!
